The Legal & Compliance function located at Schiphol, supported by local legal counsels in various countries, oversees activities in all European jurisdictions. The Legal & Compliance team consists of proactive business minded lawyers who contribute to achieving the company goals and who play a crucial role in protecting the company’s interests while ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
Your job
The Head of Legal and Compliance is responsible for leading and managing the Legal & Compliance function of the organization. This role ensures that the company operates within the law, adheres to regulatory requirements and upholds the highest standards of corporate governance, ethics, and risk management. The position serves as a key partner to senior management while safeguarding the organizations integrity and reputation.
You will manage a team of four legal and compliance specialists and you will report to the Director Legal, Compliance, HR & Sustainability, who is also a board member. You will also work closely with various stakeholders such as Marketing, Sales, Business Development, Sustainability, Product Management, the Europe office, local offices within Europe and headquarters in Korea.
Your key responsibilities are:
- Legal: providing proactive legal advice and support within the organization on corporate, commercial, contractual and regulatory matters. Drafting, reviewing and negotiating agreements, contracts and policies. Managing litigation, disputes. Monitoring changes in legislation and assess the impact on the company’s operations. Safeguarding the company’s legal position while enabling commercial growth through pragmatical and business oriented legal solutions.
- Compliance: supporting the team in developing, implementing and overseeing the company’s framework, policies and procedures. Ensuring adherence to applicable laws, regulations and industry standards, overseeing data privacy compliance. Identifying, assessing and mitigating legal and compliance risk across the organization. Promoting awareness of compliance and governance standards across the organization through active communications and engagement.
- Manage and develop teams: leading, managing and developing the Legal & Compliance teams. Defining clear roles, responsibilities and performance objectives for team members. Overseeing workload distributions and ensure timely, high-quality delivery of services. Mentoring and coaching team members to enhance professional growth and expertise. Fostering a collaborative, high performance culture within the department
- Stakeholder management: collaborating with cross functional teams to align legal and compliance strategies with business objectives. Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Your profile
- Master degree in law
- Proven track record (10yrs +) in (senior) legal and compliance roles
- Strong knowledge of commercial law, compliance frameworks, and regulatory environments
- Demonstrated leadership and team management
