The legal & compliance function located at Schiphol, supported by local legal counsels in various countries, oversees activities in all European jurisdictions. The Legal & Compliance team consists of proactive business minded lawyers who contribute to achieving the company goals and who play a crucial role in protecting the company’s interests while ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.

Your job

As a Privacy Counsel you play a key role in managing and minimizing legal & compliance issues and risks in accordance with relevant laws and regulations, specifically within the area of Data Protection.

You support the business operations and compliance programs in the Netherlands and also throughout Europe. You do this by providing practical, business-oriented legal advice and support in a variety of legal areas with a primary focus on Data Protection and secondary on other legal areas such as Fair Labeling & Advertising Law, Competition Law, Anti-Bribery & Corruption.

You report to the Compliance Team Lead within Legal & Compliance team and work closely with various stakeholders such as Marketing, Sales, Business Development, Sustainability, Product Management, the Europe office, local offices within Europe and headquarters in Korea.

Your key responsibilities are:

• Data Protection (60%): driving Data Protection compliance in broadest sense. In any case advising, handling, implementing and monitoring Data Protection compliance (e.g. DPIA’s, DPA’s, Privacy Policy, Records Of Processing Activities, Data Breach Protocol, Data Subject Requests, inhouse trainings enhancing GDPR awareness).
• Legal & Compliance advising (20%): advising, following up and updating internal clients about legal & compliance issues and new legislation impacting the company in order to support the business to minimize the legal risks for Samsung Climate Solutions. Monitoring and controlling compliance in line with the company policies, rules and regulations and ethical standards relevant for maintaining the integrity of Samsung Climate Solutions. Developing and implementing compliance policies and procedures in line with the company rules. Building legal & compliance awareness within Samsung Climate Solutions, for example through trainings and audits.
• Marketing (10%): supporting with review of marketing campaigns and materials to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations and company policies. Provides training on Fair Labeling & Advertising Law and legal developments. Supporting the roll-out of new marketing initiatives.
• Other (legal) areas and support (10%): supporting with drafting and reviewing legal documents, including creation and maintenance of templates. Supporting with reports and other (administrative) processes related to the Legal & Compliance department.

Your profile

• Master’s degree in law (Dutch law qualification is required)
• Fluent in Dutch and English
• 4+ years relevant experience as a lawyer and/or inhouse counsel
• Excellent and relevant legal knowledge
• Demonstrated experience within GDPR/Data Protection. Experience with Competition law and Fair Labeling & Advertising Law is a strong plus
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
