Your job
For the Business Development, Marketing & Communications (BDMC) team at Baker McKenzie, we are looking for a Business Development Advisor.
As a Business Development Advisor, you will be instrumental in executing BD plans for the local market, leveraging advanced technology to identify emerging trends. Your role will focus on delivering high-quality client engagement to support business growth and retention. Additionally, you will collaborate with the Partner Group and BDMC team to enhance the Baker McKenzie brand and ensure its continued success.
In this role you will support the legal teams to set business development strategies and goals and help them design, implement and monitor their marketing efforts – both by leading discussions on strategic levels as well by offering daily operational support. You will also help maintaining and improving initiatives that benefit their firm’s ability to manage client accounts and other external relations, with special attention for their key client programme. You will connect with relevant stakeholders in Legal and in the broader BD team. Working together closely with the involved colleagues, you will provide practical support, strategic insights and content at all points of this process.
In short you will collaborate closely with lawyers and other BD team members across the network to ensure the firm capitalises on key trends and opportunities across their client base.
Your key responsibilities will be as follows:
- Strategic Business Development & Marketing Communications – Support the various practices in developing and executing effective BD and marketing communication strategies. Supporting these practice areas on identifying opportunities to serve the needs of existing and new clients and developing and implementing plans to leverage that growth potential.
- Powerful Pitches & Commercial Proposals – Create compelling pitches, presentations, and commercial proposals that directly contribute to business success.
- Market Analysis & Business Acquisition – Monitor market developments, provide strategic pricing advice, and develop business plans to seize opportunities.
- Data-Driven Decision Making – Use smart dashboards and tools to identify market trends and adjust BD initiatives for maximum impact.
- Relationship Management – Manage and optimize client relationships, ensuring impactful interactions that lead to growth and loyalty.
- Collaboration – Work closely with partners, other business services departments, and the global Baker McKenzie network to strengthen the brand and reputation.

Your profile
Technical skills
- You have a completed HBO or university degree, preferably in Strategic Marketing, Marketing Intelligence, International Business, (Business) Economics, Data Analytics, Data Science or a related field.
- You have proven experience (minimum of 4 years) in a (data-driven) business development role within a corporate environment, preferably in the legal sector.
- You are fluent in English, both speaking and writing.
- You have experience in (complex) stakeholder management.
- You are skilled in drafting advice and developing creative, valuable ideas.
